Waldorf Weekend Review

To catch up a bit on the past two weeks… I didn’t intend for us to observe “school vacation week”, however we had to travel for family on Monday and then Sophia spent Tuesday holed up on the couch ill.  So when Wednesday arrived, I caved to the general sentiment of the week thus far, and we had a vacation week!

This week, which is just wrapping up, saw us return to Language Arts.  We have begun looking at word families a little bit: we talked about “sh” and “ch”.  I wrote a few words out that contained the sh and ch sounds, and we read two different fairy tales thus week. I drew an accompanying picture to go with each story and then Sophia drew her own, after writing out a simple sentence as related to the story.  For handwork, she worked on her embroidery…she embroidered an adorable elephant and is now working on sewing and stuffing it into a pillow for my grandmothers birthday.

Next week we will continue with our language arts block.

I have been pursuing these two books (shown below), keeping in mind next fall’s school work.  I haven’t read enough to really comment fully, but so far so good, I think they will be helpful.
