We’ve had a brief warm up over the last two days. All the snow melted and I had this reminder of a forgotten thing called Spring…
But later today the cold is to return. King Winter is far from through with us.
We have been so pleasantly tucked in at home lately. The girls have been busy with crafts and their play world, we’ve been tossing logs in the wood stove, the house has been cozy and warm, and I have been earnestly devoting an abundant amount of time in the kitchen. I’ve been busy making yogurt and granola, baking breads, mixing together ingredients for warm soups… It’s been so fun. I feel like I am ministering to my family, or tending to their basic needs, with a new zeal. Instead of dreading supper time, and the energy and thought necessary to go into it, I am so happy lately, knowing my family is eating nutritious healthy food, and because of me! I don’t know what’s happened to me, but I am glad that kitchen time is no longer a drudgery.
Tomorrow is February 1st. Candlemas is almost here. Spring is truly not far behind. Our first school year is quickly drawing to a close. It’s incredible how quickly time passes. Soon, we will be adjusting to a new house, a new town, a new state. 2013 is unfurling slowly, gradually, but so much change is coming in this year.
