We really lucked out this time – compared to how things looked in our neck of the woods after Tropical Storm Irene last year, Sandy did ok by us in the Northeastern corner of Connecticut.  But of course, down on the Connecticut coast, and in New York and New Jersey, it is another thing all together and we are sending good will to those who have suffered and lost through this storm.

We went on a hike today through the woods. It was so lovely. We found several old bird nests and the girls even discovered a couple of faerie dwellings.

This is the last day of October. I love October so much, I am a little sorry to see it go. But… we have lantern walks to look forward to, and birthdays too (including my 30th, wow, yikes!), and Thanksgiving, and perhaps the best of all, the return of the meat from the smoke house, which means a winter full of kielbasa. Yum!

Are you polish? I am asking because of kielbasa!

No, not Polish. My husband is German and is the one who introduced me to kielbasa a long time ago. I am just a huge appreciator of incredibly delicious food!
