My husband had two eager little helpers this weekend. The girls were thrilled he let them up on the wood shed roof while he worked at shingling it (I was less pleased, however). They like to report back to me several times that they are “Big helpers for Daddy!” Indeed I’m sure they are. Sophia also likes to point out all the projects that Dad is not doing while he’s working on others; for example, it really bothers are that the plastic is not all secured on the hoop house yet – she pointed out he needed to get it done at least 5 times today!

Once the girls got good and cold outside, they came in and made brownies. Now that’s a job that is infinitely helpful! They spent the rest of the evening with their Little House paper dolls, playing checkers, and reading books with Dad. We are taking them ice skating next weekend, something which Sophia and I are sooo looking forward to. I’d like us to take them to the rink often this winter so they get quite confident on ice, and then maybe next Christmas they can receive skates of their own. Hopefully all goes well and there isn’t much in the way of falling…we have one child who is liable to swear off ever stepping on ice again if she falls too much, which would be a shame!
