Happy Mama’s Day!

This must be the sweetest day in the year for a mother, for it’s when the people dearest to you do the most adorable things to try and prove their love…as if they had to, but the attempt is so touching!

My kiddos and hubby and sister spent today inventing all my favorite moments…trips to the garden store, joined me on a hunt for local goat milk, and worked in the garden (well, the kiddos played on the swing set during that, but still…). I love you guys. You are all awesome!

Today marked the first day of harvesting lettuce from the garden for salads ~ yum! We’ve come up with a new resolution ~ we are going to try to grow enough prodce this summer to sustain all our vegetable needs through December. That’s right, the goal is to not buy any produce starting very soon until January 1st, 2011. I hope we can do it! We are going to start calculating exactly how much we need to grow and can to make this work. So exciting!

The girls and I borrowed this idea from Garden Mama and made our own violet lemon cups today. We froze them and then ate them like ice cream ~ so yummy! Wonderful end to a wonderful day. 🙂

They are a brilliant idea; I’m so glad you came up with them! I was wondering what the general idea would be like in apples and oranges and grapefruit? I bet yummy!
